It is the only place that remains covered in beautiful layers of snow throughout the winter season. While it is hard to pin down exact locations to visit in Kufri, you can definitely trek and enjoy the beautiful scenery, wherever you go. Nobody leaves Shimla without visiting Kufri and therefore, when in Kufri, you can expect a little bit of rush and crowd along the roads. The best part about the snow is skiing. If you love the thrills of slopping down the slopes in style, the best months to come over to Kufri are December and February. Then there are the horses too! The animals are pretty happy to give you a ride to the famous Mahasu peak. The entire road leading to Mahasu peak is muddy and should preferably be traversed on a horse’s back. Make sure you are warm enough wherever you go. Chail, Mashobra, Naldehra or Narkanda are some of the other places that are worth travelling to and could be reached easily as they are pretty close to the small town of Kufri. For those who have a love for trekking and wildlife, there is the Himalayan National park in Kufri where one can find about 180 species of birds. Also, there are a few rare species of mammals in the park that can be seen if lucky. The temperature could sometimes reach even below -5 degree Celsius. We suggest you to carry as many warm clothes as you can and also, to stay protected from hypothermia.
